Birthday Party Ideas by Age Group
Ages 4–6: Sensory Play and Simple Games
Younger kids love digging, building, and pouring. Plan activities around sand castles, treasure hunts (we can hide small items in the sand), simple beach ball games, and a parachute-style group activity. Keep structured games short — 5 to 10 minutes — with lots of free play in between.
Ages 7–9: Active Games and Teamwork
This age loves competition without it being intense. Plan beach volleyball (using lower nets and softer balls), tug-of-war on the sand, relay races, and a structured scavenger hunt. Kids this age appreciate a clear structure with rules and “teams.”
Ages 10–12: Real Sports and Independence

A Sample Birthday Party Timeline
Most of our standard 2-hour parties follow this rhythm:
- 0:00–0:15. Guests arrive. Shoes off, party host welcomes everyone, basic ground rules.
- 0:15–1:00. Structured activities on the sand — games, beach sports, team challenges led by the party host.
- 1:00–1:30. Move to the private party room. Pizza, drinks, settle down for a bit.
- 1:30–1:50. Cake, candles, singing, presents.
- 1:50–2:00. Party favours, goodbye to guests.
For longer parties (2.5 or 3 hours), we extend the active portion and add additional games or open free-play time. Some families add a 30-minute parent reception after the kids leave.
Planning Timeline: When to Book
- 6–8 weeks before: Lock in your date and party slot — popular weekends fill up fast, especially during winter and rainy summer weeks.
- 4 weeks before: Send invitations. Confirm final guest count timeline with the venue (we usually need a final number 1 week out).
- 2 weeks before: Confirm any add-ons (pizza orders, custom decorations, party favours).
- 1 week before: Final headcount. Plan what your child will wear (athletic clothing, swim shorts and a tank work great — barefoot on the sand).
- Day of: Arrive 15 minutes early to drop off cake and any special items. Bring a small towel for shaking off sand at the end.

- Dress: athletic clothing they can move in, barefoot on the sand
- Bring a water bottle (we also have water available)
- Sand stays at The Beach (mostly) — but a small ziploc bag for shoes/socks is a nice touch in the invitation
- Children stay in the party area with the host during the active portion — parents can drop and go, or hang out in the lounge area
- Waivers are filed once per child per year, so first-time guests will sign a quick form on arrival

Standard packages start around $300–$500 for groups of 8–12 kids, depending on the day, time, and add-ons. Larger groups, food add-ons, and extended time are priced separately. We’re happy to give you a transparent quote based on your specific party plan.
How many kids can come?
Standard packages typically work for 8–15 kids; larger groups (up to 30+) are easily accommodated with the right package. We’ve hosted full classroom parties and large family celebrations. Just let us know your expected headcount when you book.
Can parents stay?
Absolutely. You’re welcome to stay throughout — we have a lounge area where parents can hang out, and you can grab food and drinks from George’s Beach Club on-site. Many parents drop off and pick up; others stay and watch the kids play. Either works.
What should the birthday kid and guests wear?
Athletic clothing they can move freely in — shorts and a t-shirt or tank top work great. Bare feet on the sand. Some kids wear bathing suits in summer; others just shorts. No special shoes needed.
Do you provide food, or do I bring it?
Both options are available. You can bring your own food (cake is almost always brought from home), or order pizza and snacks through us. George’s Beach Club on-site can also handle catering for larger or themed parties.
What ages are best for an indoor beach party?
We host parties for ages 4 through teens. The activities adjust to the age group — sensory play and digging for the younger crowd, structured beach sports for older kids, and full sports tournaments for teens.
Can I do a sibling birthday party (kids of different ages)?
Yes — split-age parties are very common and easy to accommodate. We adjust the activities so younger kids and older kids both have something age-appropriate, and the party host manages the flow.
What if a guest has allergies?
Let us know in advance. We can avoid specific ingredients in any food we provide, and we’ll make sure the party host knows about any allergies on arrival. Many of our regular party families bring their own snacks and cake to fully control ingredients.
How far in advance should I book?
We recommend 6–8 weeks for prime weekend slots, especially during Calgary winter and shoulder seasons when indoor parties peak. Weekday parties are usually available with shorter notice.
